We are seeking a senior level professional grow and lead our permitting team. He/she will be responsible for overseeing the acquisition and compliance of required permits and licenses for projects (air, water, and waste), ensuring all operations meet local, provincial and federal laws.
The successful candidate may be eligible for participation in a hybrid, work from home arrangement. Such arrangements are determined with each employee and subject to change based on operational needs and policy direction.
Requirements:

Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or Engineering

Registration with EGBC or relevant professional association within BC (R.P.Bio, P.Eng, P.Ag, or P.Geo designations)

8 years of working experience within Canada
-
5 years experience working on permits within British Columbia
-
Valid, full, driver’s license in Canada with a clean driver’s abstract and personal vehicle (non-negotiable)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency or a valid work permit
Primary accountabilities:
-
Leadership and Management: Provide clear direction and set expectations for staff, assign projects, conduct performance appraisals, and manage team training and safety.

Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for government agencies (such as the BC Ministry of Environment or Fisheries and Oceans Canada), Indigenous nations, and stakeholders.

Permit Strategy & Application: Develop and implement permitting strategies for WeaverTech’s projects, prepare and submit comprehensive permit applications (e.g., wastewater treatment, solid waste management, air emissions), and ensure all applications meet regulatory requirements.

Compliance Monitoring: Ensure projects adhere to the conditions of Environmental Assessment Certificates (EAC) and other permits through tracking and reporting.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and budgets
Additional Required Knowledge and skills:
-
Deep understanding of environmental legislation (e.g., Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act) and municipal infrastructure.

Strong written and verbal skills for negotiating with external agencies and presenting reports to councils or stakeholders.

Experience with CAD, GIS, and reporting software for managing data, site inspections, and engineering studies.

Clear understanding of Indigenous values and issues

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within timelines and budgets

Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.

Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
